Junction City Area Chamber of Commerce Economic Development Commission announced that authorization had been received from the Kansas Attorney General’s office for adding three commercial districts to the City’s Neighborhood Revitalization Plan. The additional locations are in the areas north of Rucker Road and east of Hwy 77, east of the Sales Barn and north of the abandoned Smoky Hill River channel, and Hwy K-18 west to the middle school. Being designated as an NRP district makes the areas eligible for 10 year 95% tax abatement on any improvements made to the included properties for commercial use. For more specific information on qualifications for the NRP contact the EDC office at (785)762-1976. The Attorney General also approved removal of the NE quadrant of Hwy 77 and Goldenbelt Boulevard from the NRP due to the pending application from Dick Edwards Ford to receive Tax Increment Financing to build a new auto dealership in that location.
